<p>The 16th Tallinn Print Triennial „Literacy / Illiteracy“, curated by Maria Kjaer Themsen (Denmark), presents works of visual art that are produced using mechanical or digital reproduction or printing technologies, produced between 2011 and 2013 on the topic of „Literacy / Illiteracy“. The exhibition will take place in Kumu Art Museum from February until May 2014.</p>

<p>THE DEADLINE FOR BOTH RESIDENCIES IS 10th DEC!</strong></p>
<p>Foundation Tallinn Print Triennial invites all Estonian artists under 45 artists to participate in the residency program Password: Printmaking. The program offers 3 week residency in Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, Rijeka (Croatia) in co-operation with the Academy of Applied Arts, in March 2013 or in Frans Masereel Centrum in Kasterlee (Belgium) in April 2013.</p>
<p>Password: Printmaking is an international printmaking project co-ordinated by International Centre of Graphic Arts in Ljubljana, Slovenia, in co-operation with Asociation Hablar en Arte from Madrid, Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art Muzej suvremene umjetnosti, Rijeka, Croatia, Frans Masereel Centrum in Kasterlee, Belgium, Foundation Tallinn Print Triennial, Estonia and International Print Triennial Society in Krakow, Poland.</p>

RESIDENCY IN RIJEKA, CROATIA</p>
<p>APPLICATION MODALITIES FOR ARTISTS IN RESIDENCE AND PRINTING WORKSHOP</strong></p>
<p>Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art in Rijeka and Academy of Applied Arts, University of Rijeka, Croatia, organise an open call (the Estonian civilians) to select one graphic artist-experienced printer.</p>
<p>THE RESIDENCE PROGRAMME</p>
<p>The purpose of the three weeks residence programme is to host one graphic artist who has a specific project to be developed in Rijeka. The project will be carried out with the partnership of the Academy of Applied Arts.</p>
<p>One week workshop will be held during the three week artist’s residency in Rijeka which will include active contact with local art scene and acquaintance with cultural institutions.</p>
<p>WORKSHOP AND CANDIDATE’S PROFILE</p>
<p>The applicant should submit a clear description of one week workshop &#8211; project proposal, accompanied by CV, a description of printing and exhibiting experience and 5 images of the printed work. The applicant should be prepared to demonstrate his/her working process to students.</p>

<p>PROCESS AND CRITERIA OF SELECTION</p>
<p>Selection will be made by partner institution (TPT) who will select the three best candidates.</p>
<p>The applicant should be able to communicate in English.</p>
<p>The final selection will be made by MMSU.</p>

<p>WHAT THE RESIDENCY OFFERS</p>
<p>The residency programme offers the accommodation in single bed bedroom apartment in the centre of Rijeka, daily allowances, cost of travel and materials. The apartment includes: common kitchen, common bathroom, separate toilet, one studio with wi-fi and a living room. Pillows, blankets, sheets and towels are provided.</p>

<p>Open call: Residency for artists at Frans Masereel Centrum, Kasterlee, Belgium.</p>
<p>“Password: Printmaking” consists of an itinerant exhibition as well as artist residencies and is organised among six European partners: &#8211; International Centre of Graphic Arts (MGLC), Ljubljana, Slovenia. &#8211; Hablar en Arte, Madrid, Spain. &#8211; Frans Masereel Centrum, Kasterlee, Belgium. &#8211; International Print Triennial Society (SMTG), Krakow, Poland. &#8211; Foundation Tallinn Print Triennial, Tallinn, Estonia. &#8211; Muzej Moderne i Suvremene Umjetnosti, Rijeka, Croatia. “Password: Printmaking” creates links between artists, theoreticians, art institutions and academies across Europe. It focuses on the contemporary graphic arts and contemporary reproducible visual art practices in relation to residency participation and workshops. Conferences and exchange of professionals complete the program of exhibitions and residencies.</p>
<p><strong>DESCRIPTION OF THE RESIDENCY PROGRAM FOR ‘PASSWORD: PRINTMAKING’ AT FRANS MASEREEL CENTRUM IN KASTERLEE, BELGIUM</strong></p>
<p>The residency at Frans Masereel Centrum is a 3 week residency that deals with printmaking in the public domain. FMC offers a professional guided studio experience for artists who challenge the medium of printmaking in all its aspects. All printmaking techniques are at your disposal to realize your project ‘printmaking in the public domain’. On our website you can find information on artists who have worked in a similar way called ‘in Kasterlee’. At the end of the residency the project will be displayed in the public domain of Kasterlee.</p>
<p>HOW TO APPLY</p>
<p>Each applicant should submit an application file in English which includes:</p>
<p>- A copy of identity card or passport</p>
<p>- Curriculum Vitae of the last three years</p>
<p>- Project description ‘printmaking in the public domain’ (max. 50 lines)</p>
<p>- Artist’s Statement (max. 25 lines)</p>
<p>- Max. 10 images with a short description of your work : size, material, technique, date in the following formats: JPEG, PDF</p>
<p>When selected for the ‘password: printmaking’-residency at Frans Masereel Centrum, we will provide the artist with a 3 week residency between April 15, 2013 and May 17, 2013. The residency program offers accommodation at the FMC’s domain location, travel costs, up to €40 per day plus material costs max 500 euro incl VAT for production.</p>
<p>SELECTION The final selection will be made by the Consultative Committee composed of professionals from the FMC. The applicant should be able to communicate in English. Application Submission:</p>
<p>Deadline for proposals is December 10, 2012. Candidates will be notified in January 2013.</p>

<p><strong>ABOUT FMC</strong></p>
<p>The Frans Masereel Centre (FMC) is a place where national and international artists, researchers and graphic designers reside, meet and experiment.</p>
<p>The Frans Masereel Centre is a Flemish centre for Graphic Art started in 1972. It offers a residency and workplace to graphic designers, artists, critics and curators who want to work within the printmaking medium; Intaglio, relief printing, screen print or lithography, or who want to investigate the relationship of graphics with other visual arts. The centre focuses mainly</p>
<p>on creation rather than on reproduction, in regard of the meeting place that it wants to be, a platform for the public, the artist and his work. Our technical staff give the necessary support and technical advice and there is a weekly meeting among artist residents. The centre organizes different graphic projects; exhibitions, open portfolio sessions, to print related presentations, etc. As such it wants to stimulate new graphic practices or facilitate other to print related media.</p>
<p>Facilities and accommodation.</p>
<p>As a resident you have your own house with kitchen, eating and living room and two bedrooms at your disposal. We also offer one bike for each house. The houses have a kitchen, a bathroom with a toilet, a living room and two bedrooms.</p>
<p>In the living room there’s besides a couch, also a television, an easel and a drawing table. There’s also wireless Internet. The bathroom consists of a shower, a washbasin and a toilet. Both bedrooms have each two beds with all the necessary pillows and blankets. The common laundry room has a washing machine (with detergent and fabric softener). Artists can also use the common freezer. Artists are free to bring your family or an assistant.</p>
<p>The FMC provides a professional print studio for the different traditional ateliers for intaglio, relief print (+typography), litho and silkscreen. The Frans Masereel Centre is well known for its extensive litho studio and stones available.</p>
<p>FMC also has a basic digital print facility that enables artist to make preparations for different photographical techniques used in the print media such as silkscreen, photo etching, litho plates, &#8230;</p>
